Even though I'm not always the best crafter in town, I love trying to create things from scratch and decorate with things that I have made myself. Some of my best projects have been my agate bookends, my Ikea bar cart hack, and leather tassel keychains. I've definitely had some Pinterest fails though, the worst being unusable coasters, or a Valentine's Day wreath that took hours on hours of cutting and left my courtyard covered in red fuzz.

I do most of my crafting with my good friend Lauren, so when she saw that West Elm was teaming with the Paper Source to put on a paper flower making class we both knew we had to go. West Elm had set up tables all over their Pearl District store and had packets of materials and instructions distributed to all of the guests. They provided light refreshments, and the staff was on hand to give advice and act as good cheerleaders for us.

The paper flowers we made turned out beautifully, but were more time consuming to make than I anticipated. We spent about 1.5 hours just on one flower! We got supplies to make another though, so I'm planning on doing my second one evening soon. I have the instructions on how to make the flowers that we did, but I think without the templates it wouldn't turn out the same. Coffee Filter Flowers

These flowers look so easy to make, and you probably already have the materials at home! They look so soft and gorgeous, and the ability to choose the color variations is my favorite part.
