Tis the season for cozy fires, tasty snacks, and delicious holiday cocktails. With so many holiday parties to host and attend, everyone has a favorite holiday cocktail. I tend to go for lighter, fruitier drinks over the heavier cream based dessert cocktails, but to each his own!

Below are my top five holiday cocktails, in no specific order. Let me know your favorites in the comments!

Winter Sea Breeze

I tend to gravitate towards vodka drinks, and anything with some bubbles is right up my alley! The winter sea breeze combines vodka, grapefruit juice, tonic syrup, soda water, and pomegranate seeds and mint for a festive garnish and subtle flavor. The result is bright and tangy and an instant holiday classic.

Sparkling Apple Cider Sangria

Again with the sparkles! Like I said, bubbles make the drink for me. Sangria is one of my go to drinks because it is a good substitute for margaritas at a Mexican restaurant (I don't like tequila!). This sangria is perfect for the holidays, combining champagne, apple cider, club soda, Disaronno, apples and cinnamon sticks. It is easy to make, so you can focus on keeping guests happy and well fed!

Winter Bourbon Smash

Although I don't always love bourbon, sometimes the warm richness of the drink is exactly what the occasion calls for. This drink delivers, perfectly mixing the flavor of bourbon with the slight sweetness and fruitiness of the raspberry preserves. It is rich and creamy, and begs to be the perfect nightcap at your next holiday party.

Holiday Mule

Ahh the moscow mule. My go to drink any time of the year. I love the sharp tang of ginger beer and the hint of lime. This drink has been updated for the holidays with the addition of cranberry juice and rosemary, as well as orange and delicious sugared cranberries for garnish. This drink is so good though, that it might become a regular during all seasons.

Sugar Cookie Martini

I know I said that I don't love dessert cocktails, but this list wouldn't be complete without at least one decadent, creamy drink. This drink is deceptively simple to make, and really isn't too overly sweet, despite the name and appearance. The only ingredients are vodka, butterscotch schnapps, and milk, plus the sprinkles for decorating the rim (not required, but definitely necessary!). Serve these to the adults the next time kids get sugar cookies, and everyone is sure to go home happy.
