24 Hours in Washington D.C.
David and I recently had the opportunity to spend a quick 20 or so hours in Washington D.C., so we knew we had to make the most of it!! We stayed with some great friends there who gave us an amazing experience and made sure we got to pack in as much as possible. The good news is that we've been to DC before, so we didn't feel the need to see and do everything.
Our day started with a walk around Georgetown to check out the amazing architecture. The homes did not disappoint- they had the classic brick and ivy that I was expecting, as well as fun features like gas lamps and cobblestone streets. Our long walk also took us past lots of embassies, and we had fun trying to identify the countries by just their flags- luckily our friend Alex was a pro, because David and I were not doing great on our own!
We went to dinner at Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle, right near where we were staying. The food was delicious and they had a HUGE beer list- we had never heard of most of the international selections. Afterwards we went and got cupcakes at Baked and Wired- apparently they have a big rivalry with Georgetown Cupcakes, so it was a bit of a debate where to go. I didn't get to try the cupcakes at Georgetown Cupcakes, but I can't imagine they could be any better! All of the flavors at Baked & Wired were so insane that I could hardly choose! We ate our cupcakes along the Potomac River, where we checked out some yachts and the gorgeous scenery.
The next day we grabbed breakfast on the go and walked to the National Mall area of D.C. We walked past the White House, but our main destination was the National Museum of Natural History. I wanted to see the dinosaurs, but I was also obsessed with seeing all of the gems and crystals there. I've recently started learning more about the powers of crystals, so seeing everything there was really special.
After the Museum we walked along the mall and checked out the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. Seeing all of the history was very inspiring, and there is definitely a certain energy in DC that you don't experience anywhere else.
We had a wonderful time on our whirlwind tour of DC & hope to make it back soon!
