My Favorite Places to Wine Taste in the Willamette Valley
Living in Oregon we are blessed with an abundance of great wine and beautiful places to go wine tasting. My friends and I all belong to at least one of two different wineries, so we love going wine tasting together for birthdays, when someone is in town, or just on a random Saturday! There are some excellent wine tasting spots closer in to Portland, but going into the Willamette Valley will get you the gorgeous views and the whole experience of wine tasting. Here are some of my favorite places that you can’t miss!
Alloro Vineyard
Located at 22185 SW Lebeau Road, Sherwood
I am a bit biased towards Alloro because I’ve been a member since 2019, but I really think it is one of my favorite places to wine taste! Their wine is fantastic, the tasting room is stunning, and everyone there is very warm, approachable and knowledgable. They have a full farm, so sometimes you can see baby lambs out in the fields, as well as a winery dog Magpie! I love the food at Alloro - the olives are to die for and like nothing you have had before!
Trisaetum
Located at 18401 NE Ribbon Ridge Road, Newberg
One of the things that makes Trisaetum one of my favorite wineries to visit is their sparkling wine! Not very many wineries in the area offer sparkling wine, but Trisaetum has a full flight, and it’s delicious! I’m also a big fan of their cheese and charcuterie boards, and their service is top-notch. Last time I was there I saw a bobcat roaming through the vineyard, and a group arrived on horseback for their tasting! Never a dull moment wine tasting!
Domaine Roy & fils
Located at 8351 Northeast Warden Hill Road, Dundee
I think Domaine Roy & fils is one of the prettiest wineries on this list. The whole place really feels like Italy to me - the tasting room is grand with tall ceilings and a large patio, and the views are outstanding. It is quite spacious, so can accommodate large groups, and the atmosphere is luxe but still comfortable. The wine is of course fantastic too!
Eminent Domaine
Located at 20875 NE Ribbon Ridge Road, Newberg
Eminent Domaine makes my list of favorite places to wine taste because the entire experience there is relaxed, comfortable and fun. The people who work there are fantastic and make you feel at home. I love their wine, particularly their rose. They allow outside food, which I love because you can bring your own picnic and sit at one of the picnic tables or set up a picnic blanket in the grass. They even have a sweet winery dog, Benny, who is half Cavalier!
Archery Summit
Located at 18599 NE Archery Summit Road, Dayton
The wine at Archery Summit is absolutely amazing! You really can’t go wrong with anything, but I particularly love their pinot noirs. The wine is truly in a class of it’s own! The location is gorgeous, but what sets them apart is their cave tasting, which is set inside an actual cave in the bedrock of the earth! It’s a fantastic experience and such a fun place to visit.
Lemelson Vineyards
Located at 12020 NE Stag Hollow Road, Carlton
I’ve only been to Lemelson once but I was blown away by the wine and already looking forward to going back! Everything we had was delicious - super drinkable and approachable. The setting was really beautiful as well, and the person who helped us was very knowledgable and kind. They allowed outside food, which allowed us to bring our own picnic lunch!
