Astoria, Oregon

I've been wanting to go to Astoria for months and months as a day trip from either Portland or Manzanita. It is only about an hour from Manzanita, and about 1.5 hours drive from Portland. Astoria is located right off the coast on the Oregon side of the Columbia River and is the cutest little town full of historic shops, restaurants, breweries and sight-seeing.

We finally made it up to Astoria from Manzanita over memorial day weekend. The day started off a little gloomy, but by later in the afternoon it was really warm and sunny! Our first stop was at the Peter Iredale shipwreck just SW of Astoria, which crashed in 1906. We then drove into Astoria, where we spent the day exploring the town, taking a train ride, drinking beer, and having a delicious lunch. On our drive back to Manzanita we stopped at the Gearhart Hotel just outside of Seaside to get a few stamps on our passport.

All in all we had an amazing day in Astoria. We didn't get to do many of the sites on our list (the Column, driving across the bridge) so we will hopefully be back soon!
